Meet you on the mat yogi warrior

Picture

Life can and does get in the way of us being in touch with our inner power and true selves. The practice of yoga and meditation in all of their many beautiful styles helps us to step into the present moment. The yoga asanas and pranayama cultivate a deep resilience and strength that we can draw from when faced with challenges off of our mats.  By taking the time to quiet the mind and challenge the physical body we create strength in all aspects and layers of our physical, emotional and energetic selves.

Class Descriptions

• Hatha Yoga •
Is a lovely blend of breath work, pranayama and mudras,  surya namaskar and asanas with short and long holds finishing with deep relaxation, savasana to let all the elements settle in. Historically it comes from Raja and continues to be the the " just get on the mat " approach to working up to the deeper and more advanced practices of Raja. "Ha" relates to the energy of the Sun connected to the Pingala Nadi and "Tha"  the Moon connected to the Ida Nadi. The goal as with all styles of yoga is to balance, join, yoke the opposing energies within.
• Yoga Nidra •
Is a form of active guided meditation often called Yogic Sleep as it creates the space for one to float between the the states of wakefulness and sleep. It is a specific state of internal awareness that is achieved by combining breath awareness and a type body scan where one is instructed to draw attention around to different areas of the body. It is an immensely powerful meditation technique and yet is one of the easiest to experience, develop and maintain. It is practiced laying down in savasana using any props needed to be comfortable for the duration of the session but can always be practiced seated if a reclined position is not comfortable. It is so deeply relaxing that it is said that 1 hour of Nidra can give you the benefits of 4 hour sleep.
• Sound Meditation •
Drift away into the meditative journey through the power of sound. Singing bowl meditation or also known as sound meditation or "sound baths" date back to the 12th Century and have been used since by many cultures in many forms all around the world. The sound frequencies and vibrations created by  singing bowls, gongs, chimes and other instruments harmonizes the frequencies in the brain and calms the body which then gives way to our systems to release stress which can ease pain in the skeletal and digestive systems, improve energy levels, circulation and sleep.
